The Central Coast SES Unit is a dedicated team of 25 volunteers who live and work right here in our community. We’re a diverse mix of men and women aged from 18 to 60, bringing different backgrounds, skills and life experiences to every job we attend. Our unit responds to a wide range of incidents across the Central Coast. That includes motor vehicle accidents—sometimes involving complex rescues and extricating people out of vehicles—along with storm damage, flooding, and search and rescue tasks. You’ll often see our volunteers out on the roads at an accident scene or managing traffic control to keep motorists and responders safe. If you see our red and blue flashing lights, please remember to slow down to 40 km/h as you pass. To be ready for whatever comes next, we train every week on a Wednesday with additional weekend training throughout the year. All of this is done without being paid. If you are keen to join us, please visit the SES website and register your interest—we’re always looking for new members.
